ENTRY LEVEL BOVINE REPRODUCTION TECHNICIAN

Rocky Repro is seeking a fulltime candidate to fill the position of entry level bovine reproduction technician at its Queensland centre with an immediate start

Rocky Repro is Queensland’s premier Bovine Reproduction Centre offering a range of in-centre and on-farm bovine reproduction services with our clients representing some of the leading seedstock producers in Australia.

Rocky Repro is an export-accredited centre with 16 professional staff supporting the

centre’s reproduction and marketing operations.

Rocky Repro is located only 15km from Rockhampton the hub of Central Qld. The centre’s purpose-built facilities are located in a pleasant semi-rural lifestyle environment.

Job Description 

Applicants will be expected to complete a range of operations at Rocky Repro, including but not limited to assisting with the collection of bulls, routine health testing following strict quarantine protocols, monitoring and implementing effective animal nutrition, along with supporting the dispatch and administration team with shipment and receipt of goods and the fulfilment of orders. This role is suited to a professional and enthusiastic individual who is seeking to be a part of a strong team and an industry leading business

This is a full-time, hands-on role with a significant portion of your day spent interacting with bulls. The applicant must be confident and have had sufficient experience in the handling of all age groups and temperaments of bulls.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the collection of bulls semen
  • Maintaining and cleaning yards to strict quarantine standards
  • Assisting in the treatment of minor ailments of bulls
  • Dispatch & operations support

Skills

  • Must have previous experience with low stress cattle handling
  • Physically fit with a knowledge of manual handling & safety principles
  • effective verbal and written communication
  • Attention to detail and cleanliness
  • Organised and able to meet deadlines working in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-starting and capable of taking direction
  • Minimum provisional divers license

The successful applicant will have strong communication skills and the ability to relay and report any issues that may arise with the livestock in the centre whether it be minor or not. Maintaining a professional manner when interacting with all stakeholders, including directors and customers is expected at all times. Punctuality and ability to adapt to changes in rostering is needed as the nature of the work requires.

IMPORT/EXPORT OFFICER

 

The Role

Rocky Repro specialises in Bovine Reproduction and is an export accredited centre with established domestic and international markets. We are looking to hire an Import/Export Officer to grow our imports and exports of bovine genetic material.

This is a key role requiring a high level of attention to detail, excellent problem solving and communications skills, procedural diligence, and a high level of personal motivation.

The role is client focussed, and market driven, servicing seedstock customers in Australia and overseas.

The Position

We acknowledge that the ‘ideal’ skillset may be difficult to find, so we welcome applications from candidates who may have related skills and experience that would allow them to grow into the role with some guidance.

The ideal candidate will have several years’ experience in an import/export role.  Someone with experience in and knowledge of relevant export protocols, regulatory requirements, shipping procedures and documentation. Similarly, some knowledge of common bovine diseases and related health testing would be considered advantageous.

The position we have available is full time (38 hrs/week) Monday to Friday with no scheduled weekend work. You would be working primarily in a professional purpose-built office environment.

While you will enjoy a high degree of autonomy, you will also be well supported by the Centre’s management team, production lab technicians, morphologists, administration, and dispatch.

We are offering to negotiate an attractive salary package commensurate with skills and experience.

About You

You have a flair for customer service, a high attention to detail, and the patient persistence to drive an outcome through a lengthy cycle.

You are a dedicated professional with a mature work ethic and ideally will have:

  • Several years’ experience in an export-related role.
  • Some knowledge of common bovine diseases.
  • A broad knowledge of (bovine) seed-stock markets.
  • Excellent written and spoken communications skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • A high level of attention to detail.
  • A high level of personal motivation and drive to succeed.
  • Excellent administrative and record keeping skills.
